Edward K. Saffer, DMD
Dr. Saffer graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1971. He flew rescue helicopters here at Fairchild AFB, then in California and finally, a tour with the Air Force Reserves in Portland, Oregon while attending the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center Dental School. After graduating in 1984 he re-entered the Air Force as a general dentist and served in clinic positions including Chief of Aeromedical Dentistry, assistant base surgeon and as a dental flight commander. He retired from the Air Force in the grade of Lt. Colonel in 1997. Dr. Saffer loves fly fishing, biking to work, and gardening under the close supervision of his talented wife, Karen.
Jason E. Kolashinski, DDS
Dr. Kolashinski graduated from the University of Washington in 1996 as a Dean’s List scholar and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa national collegiate honorary society as well as graduating from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2000. He then served in the USAF here at Fairchild AFB, earning the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. Dr. Kolashinski was born and raised in Spokane, where he has returned and is proud to call home. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association, and the Spokane District Dental Society. Dr. Kolashinski enjoys spending time with friends and family and enjoys all of the outdoor activities Eastern Washington has to offer.
Jennifer R. Front Office Specialist
I received my CDA from SCC in 1991 but have been working in dentistry since 1990. I started working at Ash and Rowan in June of 2007. My husband, Eric and I have been married since February of 1993. We have two children, Malia and Luke, and a dog Scout. We all like to go for long walks, camping, Indian’s Baseball games, Chief’s hockey games and anything else that involves sports or the outdoors or spending time with family and friends.
I have been a dental assistant since 1998 and joined Ash & Rowan Family Dentistry in 1999. I went back to school in 2009 to get my CDA and Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary license in 2010. I have two daughters, Shawna and Jessica, a son, Kaleb, and a step son, Nathan. I have been married since 1999 to Jeff. I love fishing, camping, the ocean and southern Utah.

Dental assisting has been a passion of mine since I started the Red Cross program at Fairchild Air Force base in 1990. Being here at Ash & Rowan Family Dentistry since 1994 has given me many opportunities to continue my education. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my B.A. from Whitworth University in 2010. My husband, Allen and I have been married since 1991 and have 3 grown children, Brian, Christopher, and Lisa and grandchildren, Abby, Devin, D.J., and Ariah. We love traveling to warm sunny destinations like Tucson, AZ and Hawaii, golfing and spoiling our grandchildren.
I received my Associate’s of Arts Degree at SCC before transferring into EWU’s Dental Hygiene Program, where I earned my B.S. Degree. I came to Ash & Rowan Family Dentistry to fill in for maternity leave in 2004 and fell in love with the office then. I had the opportunity to come back to work on a permanent basis in 2006, and they have been stuck with me since then! My boyfriend, Jacob and I enjoy the outdoors, camping, dirt biking, and boating with our dog, Chopper. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends.
I graduated from EWU Dental Hygiene in 1975 and was married that July after graduation to my husband, Charlie. I worked in private practice in Beaverton, OR while Charlie finished school at Pacific University. Then I worked for the VA Hospital in Vancouver, WA. I taught at Clark College from 1982 to 1988. I have two daughters, Katharine and Emily. I enjoy outdoor sports, especially biking.
I graduated from EWU Hygiene program in 2004. I started at Ash & Rowan Family Dentistry in 2005. I also work as a Clinical instructor at EWU. I grew up in Reno, NV and married my husband in 1980. He was in the Air Force and we came to Spokane via Fairchild AFB. We have 3 grown children, Stephen, Brent and Kelsey. I enjoy sewing, hiking and traveling.
Connie Sterilization Assistant
I’ve been a dental assistant for forty years -Yikes! I enjoy spending ‘down’ time at our Deer Lake place in the summer. The rest of my spare time is spent with my two grandchildren. I have been married to my husband, Mark for 30 years. Life is good!
